On 6^th October 2023, the Department of Consumer Affairs of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, published a gazette notification regarding the amendment in Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. The amendments are regarding combination package, group package & multi-piece package not requiring unit sale price declaration, the information to be available for packages containing loose commodities ordered through e-commerce channels and the requirement of declaring the net quantity by ­weight if the same is declared by volume, in case of Edible oils, Vanaspati, Ghee and Butter oil.
