Legal Metrology: Draft amendments in Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011

On 13th October 2022, the Department of Consumer Affairs of the Legal Metrology Division issued a notification regarding draft amendments in the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. The amendments are regarding the inclusion of definitions for combination packages, group packages, multi-piece packages, non-requirement of declaration of Unit Sale Price for combination/group/multi-piece packages, label information required on packages of loose commodities ordered through e-commerce channels & requirement of declaration of weight in addition to the volume for Edible oil, Vanaspati, Ghee, and Butter oil. The comments/ suggestions are invited from all stakeholders until 28.10.2022.
