In a notice dated 12th January 2021, FSSAI has briefed a procedure for approval of Rapid Analytical Food Testing (RAFT) Kit/ Equipment/ Method. 

These rapid kits/ equipment are designed to facilitate the work of FSOs, field officers/ analysts to get quick results for tests conducted on different food products. A brief procedure for approval of the test kit has been written in the FSSAI notice.

The recommended rapid kit/equipment/method shall meet the requirements of the Food Safety and Standard Regulations and are validated against International Standards. The rapid testing kits are approved by the government only after completing the pilot testing. FSSAI has already approved 30 rapid testing kits. RAFT Kit and devices are set to redefine food safety in the upcoming years.
