Researchers in Ontario, Canada claim that a new packaging tray could indicate food contamination

Scientists at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, claim their unique packing tray can help alert consumers when containers of raw or cooked food contain harmful germs like salmonella.

According to researcher Shadman Khan, the idea behind their prototype was to put a “smart” sensing device in a consumer environment that might find contaminants like E. coli and Listeria that can be found in food.
