On 6th July 2022, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change published a notification on Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022. These rules further amend the Plastic Waste Management Rule, 2016. As per the amendment, the producers, importers, and brand owners shall fulfill Extended Producers Responsibility for Plastic Packaging as per the guidelines specified in Schedule II of these regulations, and the term plastic packaging means the packaging material made by using plastics for protecting, preserving, storing, and transporting of products in a variety of ways.
