Impact of GST on unsold stock of pre-packaged commodities

On 1st August 2022, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution published a direction regarding the impact of GST on unsold stock of pre-packaged commodities. It is stated that the manufacturers/ packers/ importers of pre-packaged commodities shall declare the revised retail sale price (MRP) on the unsold stock manufactured /packed / imported prior to revision of GST, in addition to the existing retail sale price (MRP) upto 31st January, 2023 or till such date the stock is exhausted, whichever is earlier, by way of stamping or sticker or online printing.
