On 24th January 2021, FSSAI released a draft regulation with respect to requirements for animal feed.

As per the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) amendment Regulations, 2020, milk and meat producing animals except poultry, fish and pig shall not be fed with meat or bone meal or tissues of bovine or porcine origin apart from milk and milk products. 

Commercial feed should comply with the BIS standard and should carry a BIS mark on the label of the product.
