FSSAI issues guidance for grant of license to manufacture Tapioca Sago and other Starches in the same premises

Through a letter dated 12th April 2021, FSSAI has permitted manufacturing of Tapioca Sago and Maize Globules or Blended Starch Balls in the same premises.

Tapioca Sago is adulterated with maize flour to make starch appear white, in order to prevent it, FSSAI has asked the  States/ UTs with high density of Sago manufacturers to keep a strict vigil on adulteration by way of regular surveillance and inspections of these premises. However,  there is no prohibition on manufacturing of Tapioca Sago and other standardized starches as per FSSR in the same premises.
