On 11th April 2023, FSSAI issued a direction regarding the re-operationalization of the draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards & Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2022, with regard to the standards of the Fortified Rice Kernel. Since the final notification of the draft amendment regulations are likely to take further ore time, it has been decided to re-operationalize the provisions for Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), Vitamin & Mineral Premix for FRK and Rice flour used for making FRK, mentioned in the direction dated 23.06.2022. However, the provision of Yeast and Mould Count and Aerobic Plate Count parameter of Rice Flour for the preparation of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) is withdrawn from this direction.
