On 3rd January 2023, FSSAI issued a direction regarding the extension of the timeline for implementation of amended standards of Packaged Drinking Water, with respect to values of Total Dissolved Solids (75 – 500 mg/l), Calcium (10-75 mg/l) and Magnesium (5 – 30 mg/l) published in the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations. Considering the representations received from the stakeholders, the Authority has decided to extend the date of implementation by 01.07.2023 or until final notification of ibid draft regulations whichever is earlier.
