FSSAI: Clarification regarding the inspection of FBOs having Central License

Through a letter dated 2nd December 2021, FSSAI has clarified that inspection of an FBO having the central license can be done by the State Food Safety Officer only in emergency matters to investigate a food safety incident or on the request of the concerned Central Licensing Authority (CLA) or Regional Director of FSSAI after which an inspection report should be submitted to the concerned CLA and any further action on the same will be taken by the Central Licensing Authority. In case if the State Food Authorities have any grievances against the FBOs having central licenses, such complaints should be examined by the Regional Director of FSSAI.
