Sensitization of Food Testing Laboratories on Food Import Clearance System

On 16th August 2024, FSSAI issued an advisory for the Food Testing Laboratories mapped on the FICS portal for testing of import samples that have inadvertent mistakes while uploading test reports of import samples on the FICS portal.

The Laboratories mapped on the FICS portal are directed to pay attention to:

i) The samples must be tested, and the report should be generated and uploaded to the FICS portal within 5 days.

ii) Verify test parameters, food product category, FSSR regulation, FSSR limits, result string units, and Pass/Fail status before finalizing the test report.

iii) Ensure that the right report to the respective sample is uploaded.

iv) Test report shall be uploaded in FORM-2 on FICS portal with the NABL symbol.

v) Samples that are not within the laboratory’s NABL accreditation scope will not be accepted.

vi) Only the validated and accredited methods shall be adopted for testing of food samples by the laboratory.

vii) the test report should be signed by the Food analyst

viii) If there is any delay in completing the testing of import samples, the laboratory must inform the Authorized Officer
