On 30th October 2023, FSSAI has published an advisory regarding monitoring of activities of temporary food businesses especially during festivities/ seasonal events. As per the statutory provisions, every individual/ organization carrying out any food business activity whether for profit or otherwise, even though temporary in nature, is a ‘Food Business Operator’ and is required to obtain registration/ license under the FSS Act and Regulations and must follow all the food hygiene and safety standards as stipulated under the FSSRs.
