FSSAI: Import of food consignments for 100 % Export/ Re-export purpose

On 16th October 2023, the FSSAI issued an advisory regarding import of food consignments for 100 % Export/ Re-export purpose. In order to minimize the delays in the clearance of imported food consignments, the foods imported by the manufacturers or processors for their captive use or production of value added products for 100% Export/ Re-export, when declared to the Customs in prescribed Form No.8 (as specified in Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017) at the time of filing Bill of Entry in ICEGATE, may be issued a ‘Not in Scope’ certificate by FICS (Food Import Clearance System) after verification of documents and does not require visual inspection, sampling and testing.
