On 12^th October 2023, FSSAI issued a direction regarding an enforcement action in respect of products with the ingredient S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine (SAMe). SAMe is not approved by FSSAI and hence, FBOs are directed to ensure that products containing SAMe as an ingredient (alone or in combination with other ingredients), are not sold under FSSAI license whether in markets/ e-commerce platforms and to modify their active licenses, failing which action will be taken by respective enforcement authorities.
