In Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal, a 14-year-old girl dies after eating shawarma, and 43 other people are hospitalized.

In the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu, a 14-year-old girl died on Monday and 43 other people were hospitalized after allegedly consuming shawarma and other foods from a restaurant over the weekend.

43 persons have been admitted to the hospitals in the district, including 12 medical college students, five youngsters, and a pregnant woman who had eaten shawarma, fried rice, and grilled chicken at a restaurant close to Paramathi, according to Namakkal district Collector S Uma.

The local government has in the meanwhile temporarily prohibited the preparation and sale of shawarma and grilled chicken.
