FSSAI Draft regulations on display of Indian Nutrition Rating (Star Rating) on food labels


On 13th September 2022, FSSAI issued draft regulations FSS (Labelling and Display) Amendment Regulations, 2022. The amendments are regarding the inclusion of definitions for Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling (FOPNL) and High fat, Sugar, Salt (HFSS) food, the requirement of declaration of the percentage of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes & millets, if present in food, in the ingredient list on the label, declaration of dietary fiber under the nutritional information and requirement of display of Indian Nutrition Rating (INR)), its supporting information on reference values and display formats.

Objection or suggestions to above said draft regulations may be sent to regulation@fssai.gov.in within 60 days from the date of this notification.
