On 25th November 2021, FSSAI published a draft notification called the Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) Amendment Regulations, 2021. According to the regulation Non-alcoholic counterpart of alcoholic beverages should have an alcohol content of less than or equal to 0.5% abv. Additionally, requirements for flavoured beer have also been added.
Objections and suggestions can be submitted within 60 days from the date of publication.
