Locked out of FoSCoS? Here is how to get control

FoSCoS is the new self service portal for all licensing and related activities of FSSAI. It is a push by the regulator to make it easy for FBOs to keep the status of their licenses updated. But very often, the FBOs use external agencies to help them get their licenses. Most of the agencies who are small and might just disappear when you need them, while others might hold you hostage by not sharing the username/password with you. You can try resetting your password but if the agency has puts its email id and phone number then there is little you can do. In such cases, FSSAI now has a process for Updating your Email ID and Phone number in FoSCoS. Once that is done, you can now reset your password if you have lost it.

To update your e-mail id and phone number on the portal, you need to send an email to Designated Officer [Licensing Authority] or Registration Authority. How do you know who is the right person, well that is easy.

Step 1: Visit the website http://foscos.fssai.gov.in and on the portal click on the Know Your Officer Tab

Step 2: Select the state and the district that you have you license number . If you don’t know what should be the values for this, below are the fields on your license number that you should use.

Step 3: Pick the State and District as highlighted in the license. Once you select this, enter the captcha and hit search you should get the details in the following screen

Step 4: Send an Email with contents mentioned below to designated officer. If the problem is not solved within a reasonable time, then you can send it to the Central Licensing Authority of your chosen district whose name also appears on the list

The email that you send should contain the following

  1. Request for updating of Phone number and Email ID should be on the letterhead of the firm/company duly signed by authorized person of the firm, clearly stating the reason of non-accessibility of login credentials.
  2. A copy of photo identity card such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID card of the authorized signatory.
  3.  A copy of existing license registration certificate /application in form A or B as applicable.
  4. Once your E-mail and contacts are updated, you can go ahead and reset the password through Forgot password link.
