No matter who you are or what you do, you play an important role in making sure food is safe to eat.

Food Safety Works presents the ‘5 Keys to Food Safety’ in the spirit of pushing food safety to the last mile.
‘5 Keys to Food Safety’ the initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO) is a simple yet powerful tool. This easy-to-remember guide outlines five core practices that can dramatically reduce the risk of foodborne illness at home, in restaurants, and everywhere food is handled.

On the occasion of World Food Safety Day on 7th June 2024, we’re excited to announce an essay writing competition for young minds! This year’s theme is “Food Safety: Ensuring a Healthy Future.”
Have you ever wondered what happens if something goes wrong in the food supply chain? How do we keep food safe even during unexpected challenges?
This competition is your chance to showcase your knowledge and creativity! In your essay, tell us:
- What is a potential crisis that could threaten food safety? (Think power outages, natural disasters, supply chain disruptions)
- How can we use effective crisis management to prevent the breakdown of the food safety system? (Explore communication, emergency procedures, and adaptation)
- How can young people like you play a role in ensuring food safety during a crisis? (Ideas on communication, promoting healthy habits, and supporting local food systems)
This competition is open to all students from Std. 7th to 12th.
The essay should not exceed 700 words.
The last date to submit your essay is 3rd June 2024
Winners will receive a gift hamper from Food Safety Works.
