The concept of front-of-pack labels (FOPLs) encourages a healthy consumption behavior with respect to packaged foods. In this regard, IIM-Ahmedabad published a report (dated,15th February 2022) on a survey of five popular formats of nutrient specific labels and summary ratings – namely Multiple Traffic Lights (MTL), Monochrome GDA, Nutri Score, Warning labels, and Health Star Ratings (HSR), to find which one is easy to understand and influences purchase intention. Of all the above front-of-pack nutrition label formats, Health Star Ratings (HSR) format was most preferred.
