FSSAI: New categories on FoSCoS for FBOs manufacturing/ re-packing Fresh/ Surface-treated/ Minimally processed Fruits & Vegetables

Through a direction dated 16th August 2021, FSSAI issued a direction regarding Licensing of FBOs manufacturing /re-packing Fresh/ Surface-treated/Minimally processed Fruits & Vegetables.

The following food categories are being made available for licensing under the General Manufacturing kind of business on FoSCoS with immediate effect:

  • 4.1.1.1: Untreated fresh fruits.
  • 4.1.1.2: Surface-treated fresh fruits.
  • 4.1.1.3: Peeled or cut, minimally processed fruit.
  • 4.2.1.1: Untreated fresh vegetables (including mushrooms and fungi, roots and tubers, pulses and legumes (including soybeans), and aloe vera), seaweeds, and nuts and seeds.
  • 4.2.1.2: Surface-treated fresh vegetables (including mushrooms and fungi, roots and tubers, pulses and legumes, and aloe vera), seaweeds, and nuts and seeds.
  • 4.2.1.3: Peeled, cut or shredded minimally processed vegetables [(including mushrooms and fungi, roots and tubers, fresh pulses and legumes, and aloe vera) sea weeds, nuts and seeds.
