Food Safety Conversations: World Standards Day: The What and Why

14th October is world standards day and this whole month we focusing on the same. Inline with that, the Food Safety Conversations topic for this month is also talking about the standards. Standards play an important part in any industry and more so in the food industry where the regulations play a major role and meeting and exceeding the standards can be a great way to differentiate in the market.

Talking about the topic, we have a very knowledgeable panel which consists of the representatives from the standards body, certification agency and to bring in a practitioner’s perspective we also have a member of the industry who have made it a point to follow the standards both in letter and spirit. We are happy to have the following panelists join us for the conversation.

Dr. D.V. Darshane has over 30 years of experience in strategic, technical, operational areas in Pharmaceuticals and Food & Beverage industries. He has a Ph. D., from Mumbai University & MBA from Emory University, USA. He spent 7 Years in Pharmaceutical industry and was with with Coca-Cola Company (Asia, Europe and USA) for 25 years. He is a former Board Member of GFSI, SPRI & SIWW and currently, Region Chair, ISBT and Senior Advisor, FSSC 22000 (SWA), and supporting Start-ups as independent consultant since Sept. 2018. His focus areas include supporting and enhancing Food Safety and Quality through Sustainability and Innovation, using Systems Implementation and Process Automation in the Food & Beverage industry.

Mr. Munish, Kumar has over 20 Years of experience in food sector including functioning of food supply chain and implementation of food safety standards. He currently heads the Food certification business in TUV SUD South Asia Pvt. Ltd. He is also a lead Auditor –  HACCP, ISO 22000:2018, FSSC 22000 version 5, BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue 08)

Ms. Susan Daniel is Executive Director at Taste Master Flavours Pvt Ltd, an 18 year old company supplying flavours to food, beverage and pharma industries. An Australian citizen, settled in Bangalore for the past 20 years, Susan has played a key role in building this world-class company. Susan is a graduate in Business from the University of Technology, Sydney, but comes from a family of Food Technologists.She oversees the company’s Finance, Administration, HR and Marketing functions. Prior to starting Taste Master in India, she worked for Taste Master in Australia, and earlier as a Marketing Manager at Microsoft (Australia)”.
